What to expect in our Infant–Toddler classroom.

Designed for movement, exploration, and hands-on engagement, our toddler classroom is equipped with developmentally appropriate Montessori materials. Toddlers are guided to care for themselves and their surroundings, develop language and motor skills, and begin social interactions in a nurturing, structured space.

Nurturing the youngest learners through gentle guidance and Montessori magic.

Inside the Montessori journey

A day in the life of our
youngest learners

Child-led routines

Toddlers choose from activities that meet their developmental stage, ranging from stacking to food prep to early art.

Gentle transitions

Predictable, consistent routines support emotional security and build independence through repetition.

Outdoor play & movement

Our outdoor spaces encourage balance, coordination, and unstructured exploration daily.

Lifelong learning

Our guides observe each child and introduce new materials when they’re ready, fostering confidence and a love of discovery.

Advanced materials

Toddlers have more time to take a “deep dive” in areas that interest them or in areas where they crave more support.

Care and support

Nurturing environments empower toddlers to explore and learn at their own pace. Our classrooms are designed to support their natural curiosity.

The Toddler Montessori Curriculum

Songs, stories, and conversation nurture early speech, helping toddlers express needs and connect with others.

Sensorial exploration

Through touch, color, sound, and movement, toddlers explore the world and strengthen focus and coordination.

Movement

Active play and purposeful movement refine balance, strength, and confidence in a joyful, safe environment.

Music

Music is woven into daily life through singing, instruments, and movement. These joyful experiences nurture listening, rhythm, and creative expression while supporting sensory and social development in a playful, age-appropriate way.

Toddlers practice kindness through caring for plants, helping friends, and learning gentle social skills.

Practical life

Simple routines like dressing, cleaning, and pouring build independence and pride in doing things “all by myself.”

Nurturing the whole child

Our toddler Montessori curriculum nurtures the whole child by fostering independence, exploration, and joyful learning through hands-on, developmentally appropriate experiences. From practical life skills and language development to sensorial discovery, manipulatives, art, and music, each area supports the child’s growth in confidence, concentration, and creativity. The prepared environment invites toddlers to engage with real materials and meaningful work, allowing them to learn at their own pace while building essential foundations for lifelong learning.

Collaborative learning in action

In our engaging classroom environment, classes delve into topical units of group interest, and critical thinking is woven into every activity. Children make observations, problem-solve, and begin to understand how similarities and differences enhance the classroom community. This includes helping children sit and listen, focus, make thoughtful choices, interact with one another respectfully, follow multistep directions, and self-regulate.

Passionate educators

At Little City Montessori, our educators are the heart of the classroom. Each teacher is trained in the Montessori method and deeply committed to seeing every child as capable, curious, and full of potential. They guide with patience and purpose, observing closely, inspiring independence, and creating an environment where learning feels joyful and meaningful. Their passion for nurturing the whole child shines through in every lesson, every conversation, and every quiet moment of discovery.
