What to expect in our pre-k -kindergarten classroom.

Our Pre-k and Kindergarten program fosters their independence, social skills, and academic foundations through Montessori's proven mixed-age model. The older students help to teach and mentor the younger students, adding another dimension to the learning. Giving a student the ability to become the teacher inspires leadership and confidence.

Nurturing the whole child

Our toddler Montessori curriculum nurtures the whole child by fostering independence, exploration, and joyful learning through hands-on, developmentally appropriate experiences. From practical life skills and language development to sensorial discovery, manipulatives, art, and music, each area supports the child’s growth in confidence, concentration, and creativity. The prepared environment invites toddlers to engage with real materials and meaningful work, allowing them to learn at their own pace while building essential foundations for lifelong learning.

In our engaging classroom environment, classes delve into topical units of group interest, and critical thinking is woven into every activity. Children make observations, problem-solve, and begin to understand how similarities and differences enhance the classroom community. How old are the children in Primary?

Students must be three years old as of September 1st to be eligible to join the LCM Primary Program. They will enjoy a three-year cycle in the same classroom that includes Kindergarten.

Does my child have to be toilet-trained?

Yes, students are expected to use the toilet independently once they enter the Primary Program and diapers are no longer worn.

How many students and teachers are in an LCM Primary classroom?

20-24 students are supported by a three-teacher team. Every classroom at LCM is led by a Montessori-certified teacher.

What is the daily schedule for Primary students?

In addition to the school day schedule below, LCM also offers extended care from 7:30am to 5:15pm.

  • 8:20am Arrival
  • 8:40am Morning circle
  • 9:00am Montessori work cycle (includes lunch)
  • 12:30pm Gross motor development (outdoor time & extracurriculars)
  • 3:00pm Dismissal
Is there a part-time option for the Primary program?

Once students move into Primary, we no longer offer the half-day option because the afternoon is when students enjoy time at the playground and our extracurricular programming.

What are the key details regarding food and allergies?

LCM provides organic snacks but lunch comes from home. There are no school-wide allergy policies. Instead, LCM co-founder, Dr. Julian Kertsman, will create a minimally restrictive allergy policy for each classroom prior to the start of the academic year.
