About Little City Montessori

LCM blends individualized Montessori learning with structured movement and play. We are a licensed private academic school with a certified Kindergarten program and proud members of the American Montessori Society.

The LCM Philosophy

Montessori philosophy is anchored in the idea that every child has unique potential. By allowing each student to lead their own educational journey in a prepared, compassionate and safe environment, the Montessori approach kindles the love of learning and develops the whole child.

Our story

How Little City Montessori was born

Little City Montessori is an independent school founded by a local family. The vision was to establish a school of the highest quality – credentialed teachers, excellent ratios, robust extracurriculars – all in a beautiful space.

Our growth in Philadelphia

How far we’ve come

Little City Montessori was founded in 2020 with a vision to establish a premier, independent school in the neighborhood. In 2024, LCM expanded into Northern Liberties, introducing its elementary program. The school is supported by a vibrant community that continues to drive its mission forward.

How we foster our Philadelphia community

Giving back is a fundamental aspect of our curriculum. Students actively engage in a variety of community outreach initiatives, participate in environmental projects, and take part in hands-on civic education experiences. These activities not only build empathy and awareness but also foster a sense of responsibility and connection to the world.

Support for local neighborhood

Our goal at Little City is to create a community of students, families and staff who truly care for each other and their neighborhood. We do so through park clean-ups, tree planting, community gardens and various other initiatives.

Growing with your child

Whether it is our youngest learner who participates in our annual tree planting or our elementary students who host a market with handmade goods to fundraise for the SPCA, we lay the foundation for our students to become contributing members of their community.
